A YOUNG girl is fighting for her life in hospital following a horrific single-vehicle road crash in Co Antrim last night.
The collision, which involved a blue Hyundai car, took place at the Larne Road area of Carrickfergus.
Police and emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident shortly before 9pm last night.
The girl, whose age is not known at this time, was taken to hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Officers have confirmed that the youngster is in a critical condition.
An investigation has been launched into the horrific collision and anyone who may have any information that could assist in the probe has been asked to come forward – including those with footage.

PSNI Inspector Ash said: “Police received a report at around 8:55pm on Thursday 21st August, following a collision involving a young girl and a blue coloured Hyundai car.
“The girl was taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries and her condition is described as critical.
“Our enquiries are continuing, and anyone who may have any information which could assist us, or who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision or captured any dash cam footage, is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 170721/08/25.”
