TAKE a look at the thrilling cliffside adventure called the “most dramatic coastal walk in Europe” as it reopens for another season.

In 1901, engineer Berkeley Deane Wise had a vision to build a sea bridge in Northern Ireland.

He began building The Gobbins – a collection of pathways, tunnels, and bridges connecting the cliffs along the East Antrim coast.

The walkway opened in 1902 and has a long and rich history – it was closed down 1954.

However, the landmark had been re-opened and fans are thrilled to be planning their journey there.

The Gobbins wrote on Instagram: “On the thrilling Gobbins Experience, nature isn’t content to just sit back and be admired.

The Gobbins are located a 35-minute drive from Belfast on Islandmage, along the Causeway Coast.

The landmark won the 2023 ‘Traveller’s Choice’ award with a 4.5/5 overall rating on Tripadvisor.

Excited travellers rushed to the comment section to share their thoughts and experiences.

One commenter said: “We had a wonderful time here in 2019.”

Another said: “Went in 2028. Great place, great adventure.

“Nice cafe and visitor center before you get on bus. Wear good walking shoes.”

The Gobbins website reads: “Experience a thrilling world, where bridges will carry you over crashing waves to sunken caves and sheer cliff faces.”

If the Gobbins walk doesn’t take it out of you, there’s plenty more to do in the East Antrim area.

The most famous landmark is, of course, the Giant’s Causeway – said to have been a bridge built between Ireland and Scotland.

There is also the ancient Carrickfergus Castle for lovers of history – it dates back to the 14th century.

As well as that, Slemish Mountain, at 1,500 feet about sea level, offers stunning hiking.
